Then See What Happens . . .

My Motto

A long time ago, I thought to myself—Shaunta, you need a motto.

I went on a search for some smart words to guide me during a time when my life was changing, dramatically. I found Ray Bradbury’s. It was like he reached out and offered me exactly what I needed.

A framework for being a writer.

The whole quote is: Just write every day of your life. Read intensely. Then see what happens.

My original idea was to find a different quote to act as my motto each year. It’s been nearly a decade and this one is still it. I think it always will be.

So. I’m a writer.

A novelist. And I’m a teacher, too. I run Ninja Writers—the most amazing writing community on the planet. And sometimes I can’t even believe that this gets to be my life.

I live in rural Northwestern Pennsylvania, in a big rambling Victorian house that I can only afford because it’s in rural NW PA.

I’m still homesick for my home state. Nevada will always mean home to me.

This is my little corner of the virtual world for sharing about things that aren’t really related to Ninja Writers. Specifically—my passion for planning and systems, my crafty stuff (I especially love bookbinding, junk journals, and art journaling), more personal writing, and my fiction.

Starting in February, I’ll post an episode a month of my serial novel, The Undergrounders.

You can find me on Medium. On Facebook. On Youtube. And on Instagram.
