I just made an executive decision.
Tomorrow, I’m taking a reset day. Friday is my day off of teaching. I have a morning writing sprint on Youtube and then — that’s it. No more work for the day. So it’s a perfect day for a reset.
Not a do-over. Just a kind of re-alignment? Course correction? Check-in with myself?
I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. Not by any one particular thing. I’m pretty much up on all my projects. Work is going well. Life is okay. But I’m still — eh. I don’t know.
Discombobulated? Tired. A little anxious. A little stressed.
I need to take a day to reassess and realign.
A reset day.
Here’s the plan.
First of all, it’s adoption day for this handsome dude.
So, the reset day starts with heading over the shelter to officially adopt him.
You knew I had one, right? Here’s the schedule:
Daily writing sprint (we host that on Youtube.)
Head over to the shelter to officially adopt Louie.
Set up my new notebook, because this week I’ve finished my current one.
Work out AM and PM routines. I’ve been watching a creator called KC Davis on TikTok and she calls them ‘opening’ and ‘closing’ duties. Not perfection. Just setting yourself up for functionality. That appeals to me.
Reconfigure my editorial calendar, to add more time to one project.
Set up my workspace so that it’s more functional.
Plan meals for the next few weeks, because we’re slipping into take-out-three-times-a-week zone again and I hate that.
Finish cleaning out my closet. I need to be able to actually use it.
First barbeque of the year. My kids are coming over.
Family game night.
I’ll post throughout the day here and over on TikTok. Make sure to follow me for updates throughout the day and support for your own reset if you feel like you need one.
Congrats to you both on the adoption. Yay!!! I am intrigued by your reset day. I had assumed this meant a day of rest, so to see it really is about reorganizing and preparing is interesting. Thanks for sharing this piece of your process.
Sounds like a busy day. Find some joy and laughter along the way.
