I took these photos on Tuesday night. (Hence, the weird lighting.) So, Monday and Tuesday have already been zeroed out. Checks mean I did the thing. A line with an arrow means I didn’t and I moved it to another day. And if there’d been just a line, it would have meant I just didn’t do it, period.
YT = Youtube. Adrienne and I do a writing sprint on Youtube every. Single. Day. You should join us, if you don’t already. They’re amazing. Our morning crew is incredible. I often log in a little early (maybe thirty minutes to an hour) to get some extra writing in. That’s really a spontaneous thing though and not something I schedule.
Monday
Monday’s big thing is our team meeting. It starts at 11 and usually goes two to three hours.
My only other time-bound task on Monday this week was my live edits workshop at 4:30.
On Monday I worked on my novel Sonnet and wrote a blog post during our Youtube sprint. Later that day, I looked through my next nonfiction book (it’s called ‘prompts’ here as a working title.) That was my writing for the day. I needed to make an final self-edits before sending it to be copyedited.
I was supposed to start applying edits to The Undergrounders Episode 1, but I didn’t. I moved that to Tuesday.
I marked all of the Ninja Writers Press books down to $1.99 for a Valentine’s Day sale. And I emailed one last time about the Ninja Writers Club closing at midnight on Monday night.
Tuesday
On Tuesday, I have two time-bound tasks, beside our Youtube sprint. My kidlit and fiction workshops at 10:30 am and 8 pm respectively.
In between those, I prepped the resources for Friday’s theme email, sent my prompt book to Debra for editing, applied some edits to the Undergrounders, and returned the Ninja Writers Press books to their regular prices.
During the writing sprint, I worked on Sonnet and wrote a blog post. I actually ended up writing a second blog post Tuesday afternoon. I don’t even know when the last time I wrote two blog posts in one day was.
I decided to send an email about the Quarterly Coaching Program to the Club today, instead of on Thursday, so that I can email it to my entire list over the weekend. I didn’t write that in my notebook, but it did get done.
Tuesdays are a half-day off for me. I don’t have much work from about 2 pm to 8 pm. This Tuesday, I went out shopping and for ice cream with my daughter Ruby.
Wednesday
I teach or attend three workshops on Wednesday. Fiction at noon and Sci-fi at 8, I run. The sci-fi workshop at 5, I’m a student in and I get to read my own work.
During the writing sprints everyday this week, I’ll work on Sonnet and on applying the edits to The Undergrounders. Publishing day is February 27!
I’m also experimenting with writing a daily blog post in February.
Wednesday, Kevin, Adrienne, and I are going to the new Mexican restaurant that just opened in the Days Inn hotel in our little town. I’m cautiously optimistic that tacos have finally arrived in Warren, PA.
Stay tuned, I’ll keep you posted on that.
Thursday
On Thursdays, I just have the self-editing workshop at 5 most weeks. But this month, my team is having a special meeting every Thursday at 2.
Thursday is generally the day when I get all caught up on all my non-writing work. I’ll get the theme email ready to go. Instead of emailing the club about the Quarterly Coaching Program, I’ll send that to my whole email list. I’ll also work on a blog post for Friday, so I don’t have to write one on my day off.
I’ll email the Club one last time on Wednesday about signing up early, before it’s open to the public.
Friday
Friday is my day off. I know that it doesn’t quite look like it, to see my to do list. I’ll have the theme email and my blog post already written, though. And I’ll work on Sonnet and my edits of the Undergrounders during the writing sprint.
That just leaves writing an email about Quarterly Coaching. Which, I might actually skip on Friday. We’ll see.
I usually prepare for my regular Saturday night coaching call on Friday mornings, but that call isn’t happening this week.
I am going to write a lot on Friday. At least two or three hours starting about 3 in the afternoon. Not any sooner, because (squee!!!) I’m going with Kevin to meet dogs at our local shelter on Friday afternoon. We’ll probably head over to Ollie’s for some dog supplies after.
If I don’t think I’ll finish The Undergrounders edit by Sunday, I’ll spend my extra writing time on Friday working on that. If I feel okay about that, I’ll write more of Sonnet. I’ll probably end up doing some of each.
Saturday
Saturday and Sunday, we don’t do our live sprint until 10. I usually come on that extra hour anyway though and I probably will this weekend.
I’ll keep working on Sonnet and The Undergrounders during the sprint.
Saturdays are very, very busy for me. I have Mastermind from 11 to 1 and then the Live Edits Workshop from 2 to 4. And I usually have some writing to do, too. This week, I’ll work with Adrienne on our Quarter Two notebooks that we plan to have ready to publish in March. And I will write an email about the Quarterly Coaching Program.
And I’ll write a blog post.
I usually have a coaching call at 5 pm on Saturdays, but it’s not happening this week. I’m going to spend some extra time cooking on Saturday night, I think. Maybe get some meal prep for the upcoming week done.
And Sunday.
I’ll probably come onto the Youtube sprint an hour early again. I’ll work on Sonnet and The Undergrounders. I need to finish those edits on Sunday—although I have some leeway, if I need more time.
I record the Serial Killers podcast with Adrienne, Zach, Li, and Terri on Sundays at 11. And then I teach the Ninja-Write-a-Long class at 3. I’ll need to write a blog post and work on my Writer Archetype book somewhere in there.
I already made my Quarterly Coaching launch plan—and it’ll be just about ready to wrap up by Sunday. It closes on Monday.
Last Sunday, Adrienne and I sat down and hashed out a whole year calendar for Ninja Writers. I’m pretty excited about that. I had already put the Quarterly Coaching launch into my notebook by the time we did that, which is why it’s messed up.
We always do a nice Sunday night dinner at our house, so I’ll make that and hang out with my fam.
This week, after Sunday night dinner, I’m on the receiving end of a coaching call at 8 pm. After this call, but before bed, I’ll get my notebook set up for next week.
Was this helpful?
Let me know. It was actually pretty helpful for me to write. I could imagine making this a regular thing, if it wouldn’t bore you guys half to death.
I love seeing your process. I still think you might be super-human!
